Happy New Year everyone – here’s the first of this year’s Friday updates. Once we’ve got the holiday period out of our system we’ll try and limit ourselves to a weekly Friday post/email, though we may miss a week, and we may slip an extra one in if we get really excited about something or other. Sometimes we’ll just send you a new story, or maybe something we’ve prevously only published behind a paywall. And sometimes we’ll announce things, or review things, or just generally sound off.
We’re bringing free flash back, though initially only on the first Friday of the month, starting in February. We think you’ll like First Friday Flash, but if you can’t wait why not try our vast library of Wyld Flash stories here.
We’re also increasing the frequency of the magazine, so it’ll come out quarterly from now on, on the first Fridays of April, July, October and January. With the increased frequecy we’re reopening for subscriptions: four issues for a modestly priced £25 in print and £16 in digital format (which is a hefty discount on individual prices). UK customers get free shipping.
And with more issues and First Friday Flash we’ll need more stories. So every month, on the first day of the month, you can send us new science fiction and fantasy up to 5,000 words, or if you’ve got a novella you’d like us to look at, the fly-by, super-swift submissions window will creak open again on February 1st.
There are some click-links to our latest products below. The Magazine’s had a format makeover – now smaller (but fatter) which should slip more easily on your bookshelf and it would be great to know what you think. And our first novella’s out – Karl Dandenell’s Between the Stars I Found Her – whcih looks pretty good in its 88 page paperback format – check it out!
